In Memory of Guestbook

Guestbook

Working for more than 14 years, from a 2-foot model to the 48-foot catamaran, Russ’ dream came true when The Rhumbline navigated the Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio Rivers and the Canal to the Gulf of Mexico in September 2010.  While ‘Noah’ wasn’t there to see her launched, friends and family carried out his wish with fond memories.

Sailing:   Christopher Cross

This website hosts the Guestbook for people who receive a medallion of ‘Rhumbline Around The World’, and tells the story of Russ’ journey from Dreams to Destinations, plus about him growing up in Iowa, his interests and his family.

Russ wasnโ€™t able to sail The Rhumbline on the rivers, lakes, inlets, seas, and oceans of the world.  So we created a way that Noah can continue his journey.  If you received or found the medallion, please sign in below with the number of your medallion.    Then Pass It On!!!

We’ve heard that many of you would like to track your medallion, so we set up a simple tracking system which will allow you to watch the progress of your coin!

Medallions #1610 and 1611 were given to us by Russ' sister, our maid of honor at our wedding 55 years ago, May 24, 1969. We will be taking them to the islands of Seychelles, off the east coast of Kenya. We plan to give them to fellow passengers on a week's snorkeling cruise through the islands.

We received the medallion #1166 from Spencer F. who graciously presented us with it during a luncheon we hosted for him in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We will pass the medallion on to our upcoming guests, as they embark on the next leg of its journey.

We received the medallion in Colorado and it was passed on from a skipper friend knowing we were avid sailors. It will now be passed along to someone in California, in memory of my late husband who was passionate about sailing, life and all the worldly experiences that were out there to enjoy.

I received #1971 in Porto in Sept 2023, then visited the beautiful island of Madeira. On a daunting 98% grade of the Achadas da Cruz Cable Car to the sea, I gave the medallion to a lovely young Polish-French couple, traveling with a group of friends. They promised to take it on the next leg of its adventure.

Medallion #1394 was brought to Honolulu Hawaii and then off to Grand Cayman. We left the medallion in the little movie theater at the Cayman Turtle Center. We hope someone traveling through on one of the cruises picks it up and takes it on another epic journey. Here are a few pics from the Cayman Turtle Center https://photos.app.goo.gl/W4BXNfwTJCExkgg78

I found medallion #347 at Doheny Beach in Dana Point, CA. I have an upcoming trip planned to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and I plan on taking it with me and leaving it as a part of the โ€œvoyageโ€. What a pleasure to be part of such a thoughtful endeavor.
