In Memory of Guestbook

Guestbook

Working for more than 14 years, from a 2-foot model to the 48-foot catamaran, Russ’ dream came true when The Rhumbline navigated the Missouri, Mississippi, Ohio Rivers and the Canal to the Gulf of Mexico in September 2010.  While ‘Noah’ wasn’t there to see her launched, friends and family carried out his wish with fond memories.

Sailing:   Christopher Cross

This website hosts the Guestbook for people who receive a medallion of ‘Rhumbline Around The World’, and tells the story of Russ’ journey from Dreams to Destinations, plus about him growing up in Iowa, his interests and his family.

Russ wasnโ€™t able to sail The Rhumbline on the rivers, lakes, inlets, seas, and oceans of the world.  So we created a way that Noah can continue his journey.  If you received or found the medallion, please sign in below with the number of your medallion.    Then Pass It On!!!

We’ve heard that many of you would like to track your medallion, so we set up a simple tracking system which will allow you to watch the progress of your coin!

My lovely friend, Linda, a round the world sailor, gave me this medallion. She flew from Austin in Texas, quarantined in London for 10 days then travelled to Scotland. We joined a sailing boat in Largs and sailed to St Kilda visiting the islands of Mull, Skye, Canna and the mainland marina at Lochaline. What an incredible trip. There have been people living on St Kilda for 5000 years. It is a completely unique island with a fascinating history. How lucky we are.

I received #1054 while in Croatia during July 2021. My eyes are out for an appropriate sailor to help send this Medallion around the world.

When we recently updated the Rhumbline website, some of the Guestbook entries were lost. We were able to save nearly half of the 270 which had been registered. If you recall your medallion number or still have one, please register it. We are happy to know that Russโ€™ Journey continues! Pass it on!

> March 23, 2021 I am so honored to pass on two of Russ's medallions up in Bellingham, Washington. I left one on a hiking trail (# 1695), and the other I am leaving behind Western Washington University in a fairy garden some of my fellow students have created and grown over the years (# 1696). I am proud to call Russ my great uncle and that his memory lives on.
